Hey, fellow Guardian. It's 2026, and I'm still logging into Destiny 2 like it's a second job. But every so often, I pull up the old Season 18 patch notes from August 23, 2022, and I get hit with a wave of nostalgia. That was the day Arc 3.0 arrived, update 6.2.0 went live, and Bungie absolutely flooded us with changes. If you're new or just want a refresher, here's my first-person walk through that wild reset day.

First, the logistics. Maintenance started at 8 am PT / 11 am ET / 3 pm UTC / 5 pm CEST. Downtime was expected to last until 10:30 am PT / 1:30 pm ET / 5:30 pm UTC / 7:30 pm CEST. That was only half an hour after the weekly reset, which meant queues if you tried to jump in immediately. In 2026, server capacity is better, but I still remember staring at the login screen.

UI/UX: Small Fixes, Big Quality of Life

The Roster got love. Exploring the Director no longer tanked FPS. You could invite friends to your fireteam without being redirected to the Roster tab. Blocked players were easier to identify. Viewing your own details respected Share Platform Names more consistently.

Crucible UI fixes: pre-match cinematics no longer ended before the countdown hit zero, and enemy nameplates pulsed when their Super was active. Miscellaneous fixes: Derelict Leviathan got a Director label, item spacing cleaned up, Clan tab UI updated, and Stasis Aspects and Fragments perk info displayed correctly. Seasonal Challenges and tracked Triumphs now untrack at each seasonal reset to avoid stuck states. Armor inspection parallax boundaries were adjusted so stats stayed on screen on consoles.

Crucible, Iron Banner, and Rituals

Crucible got loose skill-based matchmaking on Control. In 3v3 modes, special ammo no longer refreshed on resurrection, matching Trials of Osiris. Self-revives still restocked special ammo. Streak protection messages stopped showing unnecessarily. Three Birds, Three Stones triumph progressed in all playlists.

Iron Banner fixed the Fourth Daily Challenge reputation multiplier, seasonal metrics intro, missing progress string, and outdated power level hint.

Rituals: Crucible, Gambit, and Vanguard dropped and focused weapons could now drop with more than 3 combinations of multiple perks, up to 4 per seasonal reputation reset. New Arc 3.0 bounties arrived, and Void 3.0 bounties were tuned.

Weapons and Perks: The Sandbox Shake-Up

Global changes fixed too much Heavy ammo from double Special weapons. Stasis Rocket Launchers and Grenade Launchers with Chain Reaction, Dragonfly, or Cluster Bombs got cool Stasis VFX and audio. Polaris Lance catalyst requirements became more achievable. Wish-Ender Truesight issues were fixed. Drowned Alloy was renamed Harmonic Alloy.

Deepsight weapons changed: dismantling gave pattern progress if available and 100 Neutral Element. If the objective was completed and item dismantled or Deepsight mod extracted, you got 300 Neutral Element. Notifications via loot stream. Starting Season 18, Deepsight weapons acquired before their pattern was available no longer gave pattern progress, and tooltips indicated availability.

One for All no longer gave too much bonus damage on Grenade Launchers. Shoot to Loot with Enhanced Overflow no longer overflowed too much. Explosive Payload detonations no longer picked up ammo via Shoot to Loot.

Final Thoughts from 2026

Looking back, Season 18 was a monster. Arc 3.0 changed how I play Hunter, Titan, and Warlock. The exotic buffs made Le Monarque and Thunderlord staples. The Deepsight changes were confusing at first but eventually became normal. If you're playing in 2026 and wondering why Arc feels so good, you can trace a lot of it back to this patch. Thanks for reading my nostalgic trip through update 6.2.0. See you in the Crucible, Guardian. 🎮⚡
