When Season of the Plunder launched back in 2022, I never thought I'd care about becoming a space pirate lord. Yet there I was, staring at the Scallywag title in my Triumphs tab, wondering just how painful the grind would really be. The title originally asked for ten seasonal Triumphs, but Bungie's mid-season update changed everything—they lowered the requirement to eight Triumphs and even removed one entirely. So now you have nine Triumphs on the board, and you only need to complete eight. That's right, you can skip the worst one. For me, that meant avoiding the Deepsight weapon pattern farm for as long as possible. Here's the full story of every Triumph I tackled, and how you can earn the Scallywag title yourself.

Savior of the Seven Seas

This one felt more like a checklist than a challenge. Pirate Hideouts are story missions tied to the Season of Plunder questline. Did I enjoy fighting through them each week? Honestly, yes—the Pirate Lords had personality, and the lore book reward was a nice touch. Complete all eight weekly stages of the questline and you'll knock out every Pirate Lord, finishing this Triumph. No grinding required, just patience over the season. If you missed a week, don't worry; later seasons let you revisit past story content from the Past Challenges tab.

With Full Sails

The Star Chart in the H.E.L.M. has 21 upgrades, and every single one costs one Repute. That sounds simple, right? Well, Repute comes from Seasonal Challenges tied to Ketchcrash and the storyline. Two Repute are attached to each set of challenges, plus one from the seasonal quest itself. If you're coming into Season of Plunder late, open the Seasonal Challenges menu, go to Past Challenges, and find the "Season of the Plunder" section. Buying all 21 upgrades took me a few weeks, but it was straightforward.

Beacon's Guidance

Treasure Beacons are where the real reputation grind begins. The Star Chart sells three beacons: Small at Rank 7, Medium at Rank 10, and Large at Rank 16. Did I want to run Ketchcrash and Expedition over and over to reach Rank 16? Not really, but the Seasonal Challenges pushed me along. There's no bounty trick to speed up reputation gain—just raw activity completions. I paired this with other Triumphs so every run counted twice. By the time I finished Fabulous Wealth and Robber Baron, I was already close to the Large Treasure Beacon.

Crew's Control

This Triumph asked me to summon each First Mate 15 times across Expedition and Ketchcrash. The First Mates come from the fourth column of Star Chart upgrades. During activities, I looked for a pirate flag—interacting with it spawns your Fire Mates. In Expedition specifically, the First Mate selection appears when you choose an Expedition map through your Captain's Log. Summoning each of the three First Mates fifteen times sounded repetitive, but I found it fun roleplaying as a captain ordering my crew around. The key is to unlock all three First Mate upgrades early, then rotate them naturally while farming other objectives.

Crash Course

Master Ketchcrash was the moment I almost gave up. The activity gains Champions and Match Game, but no new mechanics. The biggest hurdle is Power Level—be near the Pinnacle Cap before attempting it. And unlike Normal Ketchcrash, Master has no matchmaking. Did I try to solo it with my best build? Yes, once, and I got absolutely shredded. Using an LFG service turned it into a ten-minute stroll. No communication needed, just point and shoot. One clear is all it takes, and both Normal and Master count toward other Triumphs.

Scourge of Themis Cluster

Rotating bosses. That word alone made me sigh. Ketchcrash has three unique bosses, and they swap each weekly reset. I had to remember to boot up Ketchcrash three weeks in a row just to see them all. It wasn't hard, just a scheduling chore. Both Normal and Master counts, so no pressure to run higher difficulty.

Fabulous Wealth

Depositing 200 Exotic Engrams into the treasure haul in Expedition. Two hundred. Did I count every engram? No, but the progress bar did. There's no fast way to grind this—it just happens over the course of playing Expedition for other Triumphs. I focused on Crew's Control and Robber Baron first, and Fabulous Wealth completed itself somewhere along the way. My advice: never look at the number, just play normally.

Robber Baron

Ruffians are Unstoppable Champions hiding inside Expedition. Originally you needed a ton of kills, but after the mid-season patch, the requirement dropped to just 10 Ruffians. That's a massive relief. Each Expedition can spawn up to four Ruffians—one always appears during the haul defense, and a second has a high chance after about three minutes. After the patch, they no longer despawn, so you can wait them out. I brought a rocket launcher or Linear Fusion Rifle, plus an Unstoppable mod from the seasonal Artifact. Leviathan's Breath also works wonders because it stuns and deals heavy damage. Worst case, five Expedition runs finished this for me.

Salty Smith

And here's the Triumph I skipped. Salty Smith requires unlocking three weapon patterns from Season of Plunder. King's Fall weapons don't count, by the way. The Star Chart has two upgrades that guarantee red border drops: Double Perk Weapon Spoils gives one guaranteed Deepsight on your first weapon focus each week, and Hidden Compartment gives a Deepsight weapon from your first Ketchcrash clear each week. That means two red borders per week, minimum. Farm beyond that? The drop rates are single-digit misery, so I didn't bother. I got one red border naturally, used the weekly guaranteed ones for two more, and then I said goodbye to this Triumph forever. If you do chase it, Tarnished Mettle, No Reprieve, and Brigand's Law are the best weapons to craft.

Final Boarding Call

So did I get the Scallywag title? Yes, and it felt earned. The grind taught me patience—especially with Expedition's treasure haul and master-level PvE. If you're diving back into Season of Plunder in 2026, remember: you only need eight Triumphs, so pick the seven easiest plus whatever doesn't make you rage. For me, skipping Salty Smith was the smartest decision. For you, maybe it's Robber Baron. Either way, the seas are yours, Guardian. Now go plunder responsibly.
